I stayed here in May 2005. The location is fantastic, close to shopping and the beach. The rooms were very dirty (the floor would make your feet black...it was never ever cleaned on the 5 days I was there). There were old curtains in the rooms which let in all the light from the motel next door (and the noise), and the rooms were very hot as there was only one little fan. The concrete walls and dark and depressing embiance made this place feel like a jail. This hostel is in need of a makeover.

Hawaii is known for its bad hostels but I didn't have any problems here. I stayed here for only one night but it was fine. Close to the beach. Large kitchen, no alcohol allowed if I remember correctly.

I stayed here a few years ago so things might have changed...It was clean, nice staff, met alot of people who became friends. One interesting thing happened... Took a nap one evening around five or six, I was so exhausted. However a boy's marching band decided to practice right down Prince Edward St. and scare the living hell out of me. Being in a deep sleep I didn't know what was going on, I woke up in a panic thinking I had missed the Canada Day Parade. Or something. Other than that, it is very quiet, I had a good night's sleep every night and I doubt I will stay at a different hostel next time or any other time I come to Waikiki.

Stayed the weekend to attend classes in Waikiki and found the hostel to be conveniently located close to restaurants and bus service; area seemed very safe and is close to the beach. Floors in the room could be a little cleaner, but the main problem was sand, and the kitchen was very clean. I liked the "no alcohol" policy which kept things quiet at night even on a weekend. Had a great stay and would certainly stay here again.

Over the years I have stayed here three times , it is so convenient to the central heart of Honolulu. Staff are friendly and helpful, rooms clean, kitchen and dining area pleasant. Quiet area, a couple of blocks from the beach. Very good value, for the money.

the hostel is 2 blocks from waikiki beach in the center of it all. the employees were friendly & knowledgable. the place was clean & neat with simple rooms. they offer parking for rental cars.I feel it has all that you need for a nice ( budget) stay. You cannot beat the price for the location .
