HonoluluPractical InformationAs a US state, Hawaii has a developed infrastructure with helpful information centres and excellent communications. Sales taxes are added onto prices in Hawaii. There is a 4.17% state sales tax that is added onto virtually all prices, plus 7.24% on accommodation and $2 a day on car rentals. Like elsewhere in the USA, tipping is an entrenched custom. A 15% tip is expected in restaurants and taxis and around a dollar per drink in bars. Fortunately tipping isn't necessary in fast food places.
