Hawaii
Hawaii
The Hawaiian islands are a popular stopover for travellers flying between North America and Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Although a state of the USA, Hawaii is geographically situated in the heart of the Pacific Ocean and maintains a distinct Polynesian culture.
The islands have beautiful natural areas with tropical rainforests, volcanoes and sheer cliffs overlooking the blue Pacific. This all means that there are some excellent hiking trails and the opportunity to get away from it all. Hawaii is also home to many of the world's top surf beaches.
Hawaii is also home to Honolulu - the second largest city in the Pacific. If you want to hang out in shopping malls, party all night, explore museums and interesting urban neighbourhoods then you'll enjoy Honolulu.
Hawaii is also a reasonably affordable place to visit. Beacuse so many backpackers make this a stopover there is a good range of hostels and other budget accommodation available.
