Bora Bora
Bora Bora
Bora Bora is often called the most beautiful island in the world although some people expect too much and are let down after visiting the island. Because of all the five-star resorts, Bora Bora can be a difficult place for the budget traveller.
This tiny island - just 29 kilometres in circumference - is encircled by a protective necklace of coral. There is excellent snorkelling inside this lagoon with sting rays, huge sea turtles and reef sharks. Breathtaking mountains provide a dramatic background.
Coming & Going
There are frequent flights between Papeete and Bora Bora arriving at the airfield on Motu Mute which is connected to Vaitape by shuttle ferry. Flights are pretty expensive and most budget travellers arrive by inter-island ferry. Ferries arrive at the wharf at Farepiti Point. Both the speedy Ono-Ono and the slower but cheaper Vaeanu run between Bora Bora and Tahiti stopping enroute at other islands in the Society group.
Accommodation
Amongst all the expensive five-star resorts there are still a few cheap places to stay.
