Charleston is a small village 30km south of Westport. The most popular activity here is caving although there are also extensive rock climbing opportunities in the area. You can stop at Mitchell’s Gully Gold Mine to experience goldmining, or take a walk along the Flagstaff or Lookout walks. There is easy access to the beach and Cape Foulwind from here.

The 8km long Metro Cave is a beautiful subterranean world of stalactites, stalagmites and glow worms. Norwest Adventures operate several different tours of the caves, which range from an easy scenic tour to cave rafting and adventure caving where you abseil into the cave, climb up waterfalls and squeeze through tight spaces.
