The New Zealand mainland’s southern-most town is renowned for its oysters, but most backpackers come here to take the ferry to Stewart Island/Rakiura.

BUS

Stewart Island Experience (tel (03) 212 7660 or 0800 000 511) run a bus service to Bluff that connects with the Stewart Island Ferry. TrackNet (tel (03) 249 7777) run buses from Bluff to Te Anau with connections to Milford Sound and Queenstown.

FERRY

Stewart Island Experience (tel (03) 212 7660 or 0800 000 511) has regular ferry services linking Bluff with Halfmoon Bay on Stewart Island/Rakiura.
